This giant log has been here for a couple of years at least, wedged and thus suspended in another tree’s branches. C especially loves to climb it.

The kids found goldenrod in a field on the edge of the park and made bouquets that E said would “glow in the dark at night”.

A newly fallen tree meant another place to climb and dig.
After the log there was a very long mud fight for C and friends while E cuddled on my lap. He wasn’t terribly interested in playing in the woods yesterday but was delighted when we went back out to the playground. C was happy about everything.

We brought Ruby with us and she slept the rest of the day (after a bath). Apparently 4 hours of play, hiking, and creek splashing is enough to wear her out. 😉
