E (2) is really into Green Eggs and Ham and The Nuts: Bedtime at the Nuthouse. Both books are tolerable the first few times you read them but really lose flavor fast after a month of nightly reading. Especially Green Eggs. The Nuts at least has catchy songs that are sweet when your toddler recites them. E’s favorite show is Daniel Tiger.

C (4.5) has read 3 Mercy Watson books this week, a series I’m not that into. Silly books. Hilda and Zita the Spacegirl graphic novels are still going strong. Adam Rubin books (Dragons, Squirrels) and William Steig books are pretty popular though I lean more toward the witty Steig books than the simple humor of Rubin. C’s favorite show is Mario Brothers (gag), playing Super Mario, and Boxcar Children.

I (33.5) just finished Voyager by Diana Gabaldon. Not a tough book by any means but historical and interesting. Moving on to The Tiger in the Smoke by Margaret Allingham with my library book group. Am also reading How To Talk…. by Faber and Mazlish again with my homeschool group. I’m watching Downton Abbey very slowly.

For future book selection: Diverse books for 3-5 year olds. And this for non-sexist books. And oh yeah, this for feminist books.
